Tongariro Region Riverstone Recommendation

The Tongariro Region is world famous for its diverse range of ecosystems and spectacular landscapes which include the active volcanoes within the Tongariro National Park and Mt Ngauruhoe, which is better known as ‘Mt Doom’ from the Lord of the Rings films. There are a variety of trekking and walking opportunities including the Tongariro Northern Circuit, a comfortable 3 day round trip of the mountains. The park is one of only 24 global locations to be given UNESCO World Heritage Site dual status – as it is recognized for both its outstanding natural and cultural value.
