Tongariro Fishing Guide Riverstone Recommendation

Winter Rainbows, Tongariro ‘Trophy’ Browns & Wilderness Backcountry

Hiring a Tongariro fishing guide is the perfect way for either the novice to learn or for the more experienced to gain that edge that makes for the difference between a fish-less and a memorable day. Our fishing guides know the area well and take your safety and need for a great day out seriously.

Your Tongariro Fishing Guide Options

We work closely with Riverstone Fly Fishing Guides and offer 3 options:

1 Winter run rainbow trout (May-November), average size 3lb, fish up to 6lb possible

2 Back country wilderness fishing (October-June), average size 3lb, fish up to 8lb possible

3 Trophy brown trout (December-April), average size 5lb, fish up to 14lb possible

If fly fishing is not of interest consider hiring a boat for early morning cruising and fishing with ‘Whiskery Mike’.
